Sekirei - 01

Opening Sequence:

OP: “Sekirei” by Hayami Saori, Inoue Marina, Hanazawa Kana, and Endo Aya

A group collaboration from all the four main female seiyuus and it’s about average for me. Still can’t beat Bamboo Blade in terms of group songs. Well the OP sequence was quite actiony and I wonder if it’s an indication that the series will follow suit, of course mixed in with the hundreds of fanservice shots plastered throughout the episode.

Ultraviolet: Code 044

Opening Sequence:

OP: “Guilty Pleasure” by BECCA

I’m actually a little surprised that an English song is used for the opening theme as well as the ending theme. Though with dark themed anime series it usually goes well with it, for example Ergo Proxy. The OP sequence and the ED sequence aren’t anything too flashy nor does it give any indication on the direction the series is going in.

To Love-Ru - 12

Once again we are doomed with another filler episode. At this point I wouldn’t be too surprised if half the series turned out to be filler episodes given the rate that To Love-Ru s turning out. Though I’m sure there was an athletics carnival chapter in the manga but I’m quite sure it didn’t turn out like this, so essentially this is still a filler episode. However this episode does have all the recently introduced characters and that they each actually get a fair amount of screen time.

Summer 2008 Season Preview

Whilst trying to play catch up with the spring season shows that I’ve been lagging behind on, little did I realise that the summer season was about to start. In fact it starts tonight. Though most people would probably already know what’s coming out for the Summer season but here’s my list of shows that perk my interests, and may perhaps perk yours as well. All info taken from MOON PHASE and if you want to check out a more detailed preview, check out hashihime’s summer season preview.

Ultraviolet: Code 044
Air Date: 1st July

The main character is a female warrior who has been genetically engineered with high combat skills ordered by the government to hunt down vampires. Animation studio is none other than Madhouse and knowing their record with action and dark themed anime series, this could possibly be the action series for summer. Chances of blogging: Low.

Sekirei
Air Date: 2nd July

A loser college exam failer has a beautiful, yet well-endowed girl drops on him from the sky. She moves in with him as other beautiful fighters who are “sekirei” fighters  appear and fight with her. Surely this is just spewing out with fanservice for sure but with a young cast of seiyuu such as Hayami Saori, Marina Inoue, and Endo Aya it looks promising. Not to mention this is directed by the same director as the three Nanoha series. So I’m expecting some pretty decent fight scenes between the fighters as well as explosions. From what I’ve seen of the PV, there’s also plenty of nudity to boot. Chances of blogging: Low.

COSPA’s Katsura Hinagiku towel

Well it’s been getting rather cold lately. I could wrap myself up in a blanket and drink some hot coffee, or hot tea. Heck alcoholic beverages is also an option. But I think I’m probably better off wrapping myself with a Hinagiku towel and let my BURNING PASSION for all things moé keep me warm.

This actually arrived about a month and a half ago and it was sitting on the very top of the pile of forever growing loot. Since Hayate no Gotoku had finished a few months ago, I needed something to fill in the empty gap, and not to mention I needed more Hinagiku, so this was the next best thing.

It’s rather funny how I keep buying these kind of things even though I don’t have the wall space to hang them up. One day I will, one day. Surprisingly enough you can still buy one at HLJ for only ¥4800.

But choosing between this and the Nanaka towel would definitely be a tough choice. Deep down though I know the answer would be Nanaka for sure.

Da Capo II SS - 11

So the effects of the sakura tree’s powers are already starting to wear off and it’s happening at a rather fast rate. Throughout the series we did get the story of Anzu making a wish to the sakura tree about her memory and it seems that it’s already worn off, but the major issue here is Yoshiyuki’s disappearance. The path of being forgotten by those around you is definitely the most painful of all than just simply disappearing and for Yoshiyuki, it feels as if his bonds were breaking apart one by one, and only one person is always there for him, Yume.

Da Capo II SS - 10

So Yoshiyuki finally learns the truth about himself and he took it rather well. It’s actually kind of disappointing how he doesn’t seem too fazed about him being created by the sakura tree and from Sakura’s wish for family. But in the end Yoshiyuki helped Otome make the choice that she couldn’t make but it really feels that he hasn’t done anything at all. But his choice to witherthe sakura tree is a righteous choice and it’s the only thing he could do for everyone else.
